Why We Need to Talk About Money
Money and Meaning – Part One of Four
Money Wise UK® provides independent consultancy, research and practical resources for financial planning firms.
I work with firms across retirement planning, investments, compliance, operations and client communication, helping turn regulation, ideas and strategy into practical solutions that work for the business and its clients.

Every firm is different. My role is not to arrive with an off-the-shelf answer, but to understand the business, identify the challenge and help develop something that works in practice.
Helping firms develop, review and strengthen their approach to retirement and decumulation, including the Centralised Retirement Proposition (CRP®).
Independent fund reviews, investment proposition support and input into investment committees and governance.
Support across compliance, operations, governance, propositions and business development.
Helping financial planning firms explain complex ideas simply, demonstrate value and communicate more effectively with clients.
Money Wise UK was created after more than 30 years working in financial services.
Over that time, I have worked across investments, compliance, operations, client communication and the development of financial planning propositions.
That experience shapes how I work today.
The focus is not simply on what a regulation, process or investment solution says. It is on what it means for the firm, how it can be implemented and, most importantly, whether it helps deliver better outcomes for clients.
Money Wise UK does not manufacture products or provide personal financial advice. The focus is on helping firms think, challenge and develop their own proposition.
Ideas have to work outside the meeting room. Recommendations are designed around how financial planning firms actually operate.
I work alongside firms and their existing teams rather than trying to replace what already works.
Money Wise UK has developed a growing library of research, guides, tools and practical resources.
Everything is designed to provide a useful starting point for further research, discussion or development within financial planner firms, and individuals looking to explore the investment world.
Independent reviews of funds, investment trusts, model portfolios and retirement solutions.
Practical tools and calculators designed to support financial planning.
Briefing papers, compliance updates, retirement material and other downloadable resources.
Conversations with investment professionals, financial planners and other people with interesting perspectives on financial services.

I recently sat down with someone who was thinking about buying their first home. It took me back to buying my own in the early 1990s, when the mortgage and endowment payments swallowed nearly half my take-home pay. There was not much left over.

Be careful what you read: pensions, inheritance tax and the bigger picture
You may have a specific project that needs an independent pair of eyes, or you may want someone to work alongside the business on an ongoing basis.
Either way, the starting point is a conversation about what you are trying to achieve.
